Why I’m Actively Upgrading Client Websites for the AI Era (and Why It Matters More Than Ever)
Search has changed — and it’s still changing.
More people are finding businesses through AI-generated answers in their browser, voice search, and tools like ChatGPT instead of clicking through pages of Google results. And here’s the part most business owners don’t realize:
If your website isn’t set up properly, AI may be talking about your business without actually understanding it.
I’ve been seeing this firsthand with client sites that were:
Barely visible in traditional search
Missing from “near me” and local results
Being inaccurately summarized by AI tools
Or not being referenced at all
That’s a problem — but it’s also an opportunity.
What I’m Actively Doing Behind the Scenes
Without giving away all my magic, here’s what I am focusing on right now when I update and rebuild websites:
1. Teaching AI what your business actually does
AI pulls information from how your site is structured, not just what it says. I’m making sure client websites clearly communicate:
who they serve
what they offer
where they’re located (even if they work virtually)
and why they’re the right choice
When this isn’t clear, AI fills in the gaps — and often gets it wrong.
2. Strengthening local visibility (even for virtual businesses)
If you’re based in Northeast Florida like I am, your site should reflect that — even if you work with clients everywhere. I’m helping clients show up more accurately in:
local searches
map results
AI-generated business summaries
Being “virtual” doesn’t mean being invisible.
3. Making sites readable for humans and AI
This isn’t about stuffing keywords or sounding robotic.
It’s about:
clearer headings
intentional page structure
natural language that actually answers real questions
When a site is easier for people to understand, AI understands it better too.
A Few Things Business Owners Can Do Right Now
I’ll share a few high-level tips — no overwhelm, no tech spiral:
Make sure your site clearly states what you do and who you help on the homepage
Include your location somewhere obvious (footer, about page, contact page)
Stop hiding behind vague language — clarity wins in AI search
Update outdated content (AI trusts fresh, relevant information)
That’s it. Simple, but powerful.
Why I’m So Adamant About This
I don’t believe in fear-based marketing — but I do believe in being proactive.
I’ve watched too many great businesses lose visibility simply because their websites weren’t updated for how people (and AI) now find information. This isn’t about chasing trends — it’s about making sure your online presence continues to work for you, not against you.
If your site hasn’t been reviewed or refreshed in the last 12–18 months, it’s probably time.
And if you’re wondering whether AI is accurately representing your business online — that’s exactly the kind of question I help clients answer every day.
